Had a chance to hear Tony Morgan speak on Friday morning on his "Top 10 Reasons to Stop Blogging". He loves sarcasm. Double negatives are too hard for me, so I took notes to create the positive version of "Top 10 Things to do When Blogging." For those of you considering it or who want to grade me, here's what I heard Tony say.
1. Know who your primary audience is. (This site is primarily for volunteers at GCC, and secondarily for leaders at other churches.)
2. Post regularly. (You can expect to see a new post twice a week.)
3. Keep posts short. (My goal is that you won't have to scroll down to read the post. It would be easier if everyone had 19" screens!)
4. Don't try to sell yourself. (When Tony asked to hear about great women bloggers, I didn't self-nominate. Does that count?)
5. Use humor. (Whatever.)
6. Don't attack other people or ministries. (No problem.)
7. Blogging is public. (Weird to think my kids will be able to read this when I have even more gray hair.)
8. Be a thought leader. (Hard to do when you work with great thought leaders!)
9. Don't listen to your critics. (I suck at this. I read those first and remember them longest.)
10. Reveal the real you. (I lean towards too much info.)
