Earlier this week, we offered a Care & Support Forum through Wired Churches. It was a great day spent with people from other churches who are involved with their care ministries. I continue to be reminded that it's really important to serve others in a way that is consistent with the culture of that church.
Here's what was common about the people in all of our churches.
- People have needs that require counseling
- People have common needs that can be met in a group setting
- People need someone to visit them in the hospital
- People need others to pray for them
- People need help managing their money
- People need help through gifts of money
- People need to be married and buried
In the organization of ministry programs, there was not one need that we all addressed in the same way. Not one!
Yet, people at all of these churches are experiencing environments where they hear that they matter. While we agreed on the needs and we agreed on the challenges of meeting those needs, it might sound like a rather tiring day.
Not so much! There was complete agreement that it is a great privilege to serve the ones that Jesus loves - people!
When you get involved in caring for people, you get a front row seat to see God work. It is an amazing experience!
